hi all first post here , just picked up a lovley 1.4 mpi silverline 02  with full stamped service history bargin at £350 ,only thing i can see it need s is a thermostat change , it takews a age to heat up to full running temp , now ive seen two types a stat with complate housing , and ther other with half housing , what do you all recormmed  is there problems to look out for when changing it

It's best to fit the one with complete housing as they are pretty reasonably priced and usually come complete with the coolant temp sensor. Staightforward enough job with great access. Avoid cheapo ones and go for genuine.

The housing mates to the head using an O-ring rather than a gasket. Not sure if the O-ring is included with a new housing unit but the part number is 047121666
