Felicia fuel starvation

Featured Replies

Hi today my felicia 1.3 1999 carb died on the road, it would start fine and die immediately, if i try to keep my foot on the gas pedal it will rev up a bit then start to sputter and die again, things i checked are: engine is getting spark to all cylinders i tested each lead with a grounded spark plug. The fuel pump pushed a good amount of fuel in a bottle when cranking with the fuel line removed and put into a bottle. Fuel filter is new. Only thing that keeps the car running is when i keep pressing the carburetor accelerator pump lever, when i let go it dies. Can it be a bad accelerator pump ? Reminder: the carburetor has been rebuilt about a year ago and has run great since then

How recently changed was the fuel filter if its new and is it in the right way around?

Also how are your fuel pipes?

Only problem i seee is corrosion in tge ignition lead leading to the ignition coil itself, but how is it that pressing the accelerator pump lever keeps it alive? I think its a fuel problem rather than spark right ?

I'm sorry Jonny, I can't really say much more, carbs are something I don't have much experience with.

I would definitely get that corrosion sorted though. It'll only get worse.

Ive replaced the ignition leads, they had corrosion anyways, but the problem is still there, gave the carb a good clean and the jets also still its stalling as soon as i start it

Should the inline fuel filter be full when idling? Because mine is barely filled

Problem sorted, i cleaned the carb jets and its all good again, i think there was a bit of dirt stuck on them thanks for the help
