Felicia Hatchback roof bars???

Featured Replies

I have been looking for roof bars for my Felicia because I need to move a ladder ( 2 x 4m long) and can't find anything that matches my needs (price range.) I notice that some members use the Mont Blanc bars so I bought some on Gumtree and have been trying to fit them this morning. I spoke to a local stockist of Mont Blanc systems and he advised to get the CBC1 bars, which is what I've got. They would fit right out of the box with no extra fitting kit needed, they said.

1 - The bars that I've got have a shaped rubbber foot, designed to match the roof line of a range of cars, but that doesn't match the roofline of the Felicia.

2 - The clamp can only fit over the rubber/plastic trim that goes along the roofline. This means that it doesn't get a firm fix on the car, because it's compressing all the rubber that forms the outer door seal. The threaded part of the tightening bolt is plastic, so won't stand some firm tighteneing like a metal part would.

The bars are now on, but they are not as secure as I would expect. There is some movement due to the clamps not actually clamping anything metal or solid.

How do you chaps get on with yours? Is there a better system available?

When you say "some members" do you refer to Felicia owners? Because I couldn't find anyone saying that. So I am not sure who are you expecting to help with your problem in this section...

Indeed I do refer to Felicia owners, with this being a Felicia section and my searches came up with a couple of mentions of them using them. Perhaps you didn't llook hard enough?

My expectations are therefore not without basis.

Given the fact it is your 3rd topic on the matter of roof bars and previous two didn't get any response, I thought maybe there's something wrong with your expectations. Now you've bought roof bars based on " a couple of mentions of them " from Felicia owners, you say. Yet the roof bars don't match the car and from your description they never will. They can't hold on rubber moldings. My only idea is to adapt some strong suction cups as mounting points. Something like those used to handle windshields.

Ricardo, just quickly check your facts. My 3rd topic on the matter...WTF you talking about? I only started looking the other day and I didn't buy them just because 'a couple of members mentioned them' but because they said they were using them...bit different don't you think?

Apologies accepted whenever you'd like to offer them.

Ricardo, the silence is deafening.

You'll be better on your own. I offered you a solution. I'm sure you'll get lots of help and make lots of friends with your attitude. By the way, you need some anger management classes. Chill.

If your solution was genuine, then I would be better off on my own. Suctions cups?

Here's some advice for you...just take a look at the tone of your assumptive, misinformed reply Ricardo and then I suggest that you 'chill' and consider that it costs nothing to admit that you're wrong.
