Idle rpm isn't good

Featured Replies

Hey. I bought a fabia mk2 1.6 diesel (2011) two week ago, and the idle rpm isn't working well. The normal idle rpm is 800 but some times the idle rpm is 950 and does't move up or down. And sometimes when i turn off engine the rpm indicator stay on 100. But sometimes working well so normal rpm 800. Why is that? Thanks for the answers.

That sounds like you may have an issue with the idle stabilisation control for the different idle speeds.

OTOH, if the rev counter needle isn't resting on the stop engine off, it may be that the return spring is slightly weak in which case I'd live with because the alternative is that the entire gauge cluster needs replaced.

Welcome.

The idle being higher than 800 rpm is OK if the battery is charging due to the load on it, lights, heater, radio, heated rear screen.

As to any issues or faults someone in the know will be along hopefully.

The Mods might move your post to the Fabia Mk2 Section.

My 1.6tdi (traded for a 1.9tdi) did this during cooler weather and when performing a DPF regeneration. Another reason is during the winter there is more drain on the battery. Seems like normal behavior for a 1.6tdi DPF to me.

Exactly what I was thinking
