Red paintwork fade?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just had my trusty 57 plate Fabia written of by some idiot so now looking for a replacement. I have seen a tidy looking 2013 Fabia but it's red and I've seen loads of red cars (all different makes and ages) where either the paintwork or the bumpers have faded to a really disgusting shade of pink.

Just wondered if anyone had had a similar issue with their own Skoda or not.

I don't have a garage so it would be outside all the time.

Thanks.

Welcome.

I really would not worry about Fading Red with a Mk2 Fabia or any Skoda manufactured in the past 10 years or so.

It is really a thing in the past since Red pigments were changed and water based paints.

Definitley wouldn't worry about the red faiding, that's more on 25 year old vauxhalls, not a still quite new Fabia.

Just keep it clean and apply wax time to time and it will stay like new :)

All cars manufactured from 1998 on are painted in base coats (both 2k & water based) & have to have a UV resistant lacquer applied over them. Solid colours are still available but seldom used on cars unless on a restoration & the owner plumbs for an authentic finish they're mainly only used on commercial vehicles these days.
