Air Con on Mk2 Octavia

Featured Replies

Folks, the AC fans were not coming on when operating the AC button on my 2009 Octy vRS CR170 LE (pre-facelift). So I had the system re-gassed yesterday at a local VAG specialist in Wrexham and they claim the system was only about half full when they drained it and no faults were recorded with the OBD scan tool. Now, fully topped up with fresh gas & AC oil, the fans do now come on but only when the interior Temp control is set on its 'coldest' setting - and if I leave the AC switched on but raise the interior temp to the 20's or High the fans stop spinning. I thought the AC should work on any interior Temp setting (cold or hot). Is anyone able to advise if my AC is working correctly, please?

How Baltic is it where you are? The AC is disabled when outside temperature is below +5C.

When the sun was out this afternoon it was about 9C but the fans only came on when the temp dial was set to cold and AC on. If I raised the temp dial the fans would stop spinning. Am I missing something here??.

Also, you're saying "A/C". Do I take it that this means you have a "car heater" and a separate button labelled "A/C" or similar, rather than climate control?

If so, then maybe it's smart enough to say that you don't need the chiller function, just the drier, when the demand temperature is above ambient?
