bottom rubber missing !

Featured Replies

Hi

I am looking for something which I dont know how to explain :P. I think picture says thousands word so I am attaching a picture (by the way its not my car :P).

Actually I am looking for a rubber made circular thing which stops water getting inside the car. I dont know its purpose but after lifting the car, it seems my car missing this "thing". The car rear carpet keep getting soaked every time I drive in the rain.

I hope wise people can help me in explaining the purpose and how to get it ?

Thanks for that... can you guide... IF i can reuse bunk from one of the car area which is not so critical ?

There are two behind the rear bumper cover for towbar/parking sensor wiring, you could remove one of them from inside the boot and use that, might be an idea to cover that hole with some tape, but I can't imagine a new bung from a dealer would be very expensive

@kthned

Us the wet carpet a new issye during your ownership or existing since you bought the car?

Its probable a previous owner has had a leak and pulled the bungs to get the water out.

But... did he find/fix the leak???

It would be worth checking all the usual leaky octavia hotspots before you replace the bungs as you could end up worse off..

Take off arch liners and clean them out as this can have water build up and enter via the bonnet release cable hole.

Pour water down the windows and check it doesnt come out under the door cards. If it does then the membranes behind the door card is punctured - will need to be fixed/replaced (with a piece of heavy plastic sheet well taped on).

Sun roof drains (few threads on them blocking)

Water being in rear footwell means nothing in terms of leak location as the floorpan shape angles back that way causing water to gather there first
