Bolero Radio Code

Featured Replies

Due to problems with my Bolero radio changing channels by itself I am buying a replacement from a Briskoda member with its code. Unfortunately I do not have the code for my current radio as, although I bought the car new, it was not listed in the space assigned for it on the documentation. I need the code of the original radio as I would want to reinstall it when I sell the car.

I have been advised by Skoda that the only way to get the code is for me to visit my dealer and have the car hooked up to their diagnostic system. I would have thought that if I visited the dealer with the car, V5 and my passport as proof of ownership they would have been able to give me the code from there system.

Has anybody else had this problem and if so how long did it take connected to the computer? At this moment I have no wish for them to update any of the software in my car and I am worried that they may do this 'inadvertently' whilst the car is hooked up. It would be easier for me to just get the code from an online site offering such services but there are so many does anybody have any recommendations.

Finally is it possible to power the radio outside of the car to check whether a radio code obtained online actually works?

Had the same issue, as mine had a kenwood fitted from New. Just took my original one to the dealer, it was out of the car, they read the serial number on the side and gave me the code. No charge, no hassle, then flogged it on Ebay.

Main dealer shouldn't charge more than £10 to get the code for the  Bolero !

I have read that the car will store three radio codes which means that there would be no need for me to obtain the code for the original radio as this would be remembered by the car after I have fitted the replacement. Can anybody confirm, or deny this?

Just refitted my Bolero in the car, and its asking for the code! What a ball ache, as im trading it in on Thursday!.

I presume because im trading it into a Skoda Main Dealers, they will be able to solve this.

Its typical, its never asked for one before!

Leave it an hour or so and it will probably work, dont try entering any code, it should in time recognise it.

okay ill give it a shot

YEP! That worked! was a couple of hours since i re installed it

I share your joy, I was so disheartened when it happened to me, I tried all the numbers written on the handbook and the thing locked out, contacted previous owner he had no idea, I was not happy as I had been assured that removing the battery would not cause a problem.

Which in fact turned out to be true but for my panicking, the next day I switched the ignition on and the radio started playing :biggrin:

If the radio remembers it was switched on last time it was used, when you put the battery back on it will ask for the code. If you then switch the radio off and then the ignition off then ignition on then radio on it will start up without asking for a code.

Waiting for one hour causes the radio to go off again so next time you apply power via the ignition it will go through the process of the code checking handshake with the display system correctly and the radio will work when it switched on.

I found this out the hard way!!

Hi, I have recently purchased a balerio stereo from a salvage yard. Along with a number of trim pieces for my octavia estate 2012. I wanted to replace my Swing stereo. Seemed easy enough. Asked me for a code. Was pleased to find this post. I turned up at my skoda dealership this morning hoping I would present serial number and I would be issued with a code. Was not the case. They said i would need to book the car in for deciding. Any suggestions of what i can do.

On a side not once I plugged in balerio and powered up. It's making a constant humming sound like its reading a CD over and over. J guess this will stop once I put code in. Am I right in thinking this?

I believe the radio codes can be acquired quite cheaply on eBay these days.

Thanks aftercslling a number if car audio shops, avg price £35. I paid £10 from ebay. Thanks.

How would I take a CD out that is stuck inside?
