Small lag during acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm having some problems with my 2001 Octavia 1.8T @190km. Sometimes when I accelerate hard I feel a little hesitation/lag around 3000-3500 rpm. It's very short but you can feel it and there's this sound like the air getting out. You can hear it at around 0:03 here

I didn't get any vag errors until recently:

17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction
        P1200 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

So is it the n249 valve or can it be the DV ? If you need a log here's one http://vaglog.pl/log_254720.html (I did a couple of runs but look at the first one - there was this little hesitation).

17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction

I had the above code on my new purchase 2003 VRS. Turned out to be the N75 valve at fault. My understanding is the N75 was goosed so the car was using the n249 vave too dump boost, but couldn't keep up and threw this fault..

Checked all pipe work for boost leaks, the n75 seemed to be operating under diagnostic kit.. but threw a new N75 on it anyhow and its been behaving since and the fault never came back.

May be similar on yours, but as usual check for boost leaks and vacuum leaks.

I did check for boost leaks and vacuum leaks and it's all fine. I considered the n75 but never had any error that would point it directly...

I had nothing pointing towards the n75 on my scan tool, it switched and behaved under static test, just guessing it was not keeping up under boost.

My understanding is the n249 shouldn't come into play unless there is something wrong with the normal boost control (ie n75) and is only used as a fail safe.. like a stuck wastgate.

I have to say it does make sense. I'll start with replacing the n75 and if that doesn't help I'll go with the new DV.
