How to get a comma into a phone number

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have lost the ability to have comma's in the phone numbers on the Bolero of my 2014 Yeti

For the last 3 years I have had the Yeti and I had a Android Moto G phone, when I uploaded the the phone book to the yeti into the bolero my wife's work number  was shown as xxxxxxxxxxx,,,333

,,,333 is her extension number of her work phone.

Now, I have a new phone (iPhone) and have deleted my old phone settings in the borleo and added the iPhone, then uploaded the phonebook, however the comma's (which are in the iPhone phone book) no longer appear in the bolero phone book, it's just the main number, so when I want to ring her I now have to start fiddling with the bolero display to bring up the keypad to type the extension which is distracting and takes your eyes off the road.

I have tried looking everywhere in the settings but find no help..

Does any here know why the bolero will not accept commas as pauses in the phone number... Like I said it has been fine for 3 years with the Android device...

Thank you

Yeti MkII 2014 SE2.0 with Bolero

Does the new phone use commas for the pause or something else, remember its the phone that is doing the calling not the Bolero.

PS: Your Yeti is the F/L version not the MKII, that is not on sale until later this year or early next.

If the OP is placing the call from the Bolero screen then the phone is indeed placing the call, but the Bolero is telling the phone (via the bluetooth module) the number to call.  It doesn't tell the phone "please call the wife", it tells the phone "please call the following number: ...."  AFAIK the same is true for calls placed from the Maxidot, and by using voice dialling initiated by pressing the left-hand roller/button on the MFSW (ie not using voice dialling on the phone itself eg via Siri* if you have an Apple).

It sounds like the upload of the phonebook from the phone to the car's bluetooth module isn't working the same with the OP's iPhone as it did with his Moto G.  I'm afraid I've no idea how to fix this.  However, it occurs to me that a possible workaround might actually be for the OP to use Siri to place the call to his wife directly from the phone (this assumes that the iPhone interprets the commas in its phone book correctly).

From the web.

The next time you enter a phone number for someone in Contacts, try pressing the "+*#" button in the lower left-hand corner of the number pad. When you do, you will reveal two new options:

Yes, I saw this but one of the options is to "insert a pause, using a comma...."

I'd be tempted to add a 'new' number for the wife (say "work 2") identical to the first but setup using this method.

It just might be that the 'commas' haven't copied over functionality wise to the bolero.

Try typing p in the number instead of,

That's how my android is set for extension numbers/press option and this works on iPhone too.

On old Nokia's you simply held the * key to get the p pause option

Hi,

Thanks for the replies but i have tried several things none of which has worked.

I tried....

Deleted the number in the iPhone contact list, then readded it using comma as the pause using the pause under "+*#" button, then reload phone book on Bolero

Deleted my profile on Bolero and then create new bluetooth connection and upload the phonebook to the Bolero

For some reason during the phonebook upload the commas and the extension afterwards is just dropped.

On the Bolero then is no way to amend the number to include a comma or insert a p. These do not appear of the Bolero keypad

It must be an iPhone thing integration with the Bolero via Bluetooth.

Could well be !  Since moving from Windows phone to iphone I can no longer import my contacts photos to the bolero !
