Best tyres?

Hi folks, I drive a w reg 1.8 lx estate and wondering what are the best tyres to get in terms of longevity and fuel efficiency. Is it a false economy to go for a budget tyre, even part worn, or should I be looking at Michelins @ £75 a pop? Any help, much appreciated as always...

Goodyear efficient grip are a very good all round-er type tyre. Long lasting, efficient, quiet but still provide decent grip levels (did a couple of laps of the Nurburging with mine on).

I went for Pirelli P7 Cinturato Blue on the current car though as I couldn't find efficient grips in the right size at a decent price.

The Pirellis are very quiet and very efficient and they give brilliant grip too (A rated for fuel and A rated for wet grip).
