Canbus and bulb out warning light

Featured Replies

I had a bulb warning light on which was the nearside front sidelight bulb. I removed the bulb and drove around for a few days until I got a new one to replace it. Obviously the bulb warning light stayed on in the dash.

I have now replaced the bulb which is working but the warning light wont go off. The warning light comes on when the ignition is turned on, even if the light switch is in the off position. Ideas anyone?

I've checked the number plate bulbs and rear light bulbs but they are all working.

It might be a different bulb it's complaining about as I'd expect it to pick on the new bulb very quickly.

Possibly worth getting a scan done as that'll tell you exactly which bulb is unhappy.

Wait for a couple of days to see if it clears itself, otherwise you may need to clear it with vcds.

Just had a look at the last autoscan I did and no mention of lights on it. Do they need to be switched on before I do the scan or is a different type of scan required?

Thanks

Think I understand it better now. If I do an autoscan the light faults should show in 09-Central Electronics. I will get one done Monday morning.

Correct, if the bulb warning light is on, an autoscan will show one or more bulbs it's concerned about :)

Scan showed problem with low beam right - open or short to plus. Now I have a good idea where the problem may lie. I was convinced it was a side light bulb that was causing the problem which was wrong, so the scan has now given me the details of which bulb is at fault and also which side.

Thanks for the help lads.

Don't you have MFD  In your car as it is 2011 ?

It then pops up problem messages if you scroll into the menu in the status section.

It should indicate which bulb has issue..

No the car is 2011 but does not have MFD.
