xenon lamps

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I have been reading with intrest about Xeon lamps and quite a lot have

mentioned about headlamp washers,

What I want to knoe is why do you need washers if using xeon's????

Steve

To wash the mud and crud off, of course! Doesn't matter what's inside producing the light if the headlamp glass is dirty and it can't get through!

But why specifically for Xeon's

I know they are there to clean the lenses, but normal lights are not specified to have washers

Steve

Because the light produced by Xenon lamps is much brighter and also much more prone to refraction and 'light scatter' which means dirty headlamps could be refracting the much brighter light into the eyes of other motorists.

Headlamp washers are only a requirement on cars that come factory fitted with Xenon lamps by the way, after market upgrades are not required to have washers.

Sorry, RADIOTWO, misunderstood. Misunderstood because some Octy models do have non-Xenon headlights with washers - our 2001 Elegance Estate does, as does the New Octy Elegance. They keep the headlights clean, but don't half get through the washer fluid!
