I'm sorry if this has been answered before. I've tried searching but maybe I'm not using the right words in the search bar.

 

I bought a 2010 Octavia in January. I've noticed a display of a number and clock symbol that appears when I turn the ignition on. It appears to be counting down. When I first noticed it, it was on about 15. In the last couple of weeks it's dropped to 11.

 

I've attached a picture. I'd appreciate your help. Thank you.

It is telling you how many days until your car needs a service. The 4400 miles with the spanner symbol is how many miles until your service. You go by whatever is reached first. If the car is set to annual servicing (10,000 kilometres which equals 9400 miles) that would say to me your vehicle had only covered 5k miles since its last annual service. 

 

When the Days/Miles To Go reaches '0', it will flash 'SERVICE' or something similar when you start the car. It gets reset as part of the service. 

 

Or should do, but I've had to go back at least once to get them to do it!

I knew about the mileage and spanner symbol but I didn't realise they're linked.

 

The car was serving before I bought it so it looks like they didn't reset the indicator.
