Dilemma with remap

Featured Replies

Hi guys/girls i was wondering if anyone could help. I have a 64 plate 2.0ltr tdi (150) and had it remapped at a garage named SLT Remapping in Sheffield and thought that was the only mod i was going to do. I have now decided to put subtle mods such as a pipercross panel filter and a cat back exhaust from Tony Banks in Leeds on the car and was wondering if it would be worth it to then have a live custom map put back on it or would the difference be minimal, i dont mean in gains but just how the car would perform in general. I just dont know if the £450 for the map is really worth it. Hopefully you people can help.

Thanks

I don't think there'd be a massive change with just a cat back exhaust and filter.

The exhaust probably won't be much less restrictive than standard, so personally I wouldn't get it mapped again.

Thank you for the reply. Looks like that is how its going to stay then. What can be done to the exhaust to make it less restrictive without having the cat and dpf removed as i dont want to do this with the laws on MOTs i was just wondering if i could add more bhp out of it without spending too much. The exhaust is just for a little bit more noise but if something could be done without doing the above i would obviously go for that. Sorry im not really big on the modding side just like to get a little extra out of them.

Playing with the exhaust and fitting a panel filter will probably yield little if any result.

Sorry, you want more exhaust noise from a diesel ?

Yes each to their own, freedom to do what they want to their own car :)

Thank you for the info. I wasnt looking for gains just better running performance. Exhaust wise i just want a nice quiet tone out of it thats all nothing mad.

It won't give you better running performance either.

the only option worth entertaining might be removing the back box
