clicking sound when slowing down

Featured Replies

Hi,

can you please tell me if you also can hear clicking / ticking noise when slowing down in gear ?

I can only hear this when is very quite outside like 5 am with the window down , specially when passing parked cars or wall. When the window is up I cannot hear it at all. I thought this will be a stone in tyre but nothing there so i have test it and i found that this only appears when the car is slowing down in D position if you coasting in neutral no clicking can be notice.

I'm really worry that this is DSG issue the car has only 50 k on the clock and already had 2 mechatronics replaced by warranty and to services done on gearbox.

Please advise.

cheers

Perhaps a stone or nail in a tyre?

Hi ,

no no for sure it cannot be a stone as i can only here this when coasting in D position, no clicking when coasting in N and i have checked all tyres

any other ideas please?

I have found that it could be wastegate clip but why i can only here this when in D mode?

I've done the wastegate clip. It won't be the wastegate clip that is a rattle type sound when under acceleration about 2200 - 3000 rpm.  Not trailing throttle and deceleration.

I have a DSG, there is often clicking on my car because we have a gravel drive so there are always stones in the tyres but I know you said that isn't it.

I will try to remove them and check with windows down (I rarely drive like that due to the climate control) but to be honest, it seems like you are looking for a problem that isn't there?

This is now fixed and apparently I was right it was a wastegate thing i have managed to fit clip from Skoda(£12 delivered) and the noise gone. Thank you all for your support.
