Replacement Heated Windscreen

Featured Replies

From previous posts/topics a few people on here had their heated windscreen replaced. For anyone that has, did the replacement have heated elements all the way to the edges of the glass?

Had mine replaced yesterday and the new windscreen has about 4 inches either side where the glass is completely clear with no heated elements. Bugged the hell out of me on my drive to work as it makes the heated elements stand out, especially in direct sunlight. Never really noticed them on my original windscreen as the elements went edge to edge.  :(

Mine dont go to the edge. But neither did my OEM screen. You sure you just didn't notice before? I've never seen edge to edge elements in any of my cars or those I've looked at in showrooms.

My 14 VRS has a few inches gap - seems to be standard.

Thanks for the responses guys. Looking at this image I took before having it changed, it looks to go all the way. Maybe the old one tapered inwards towards the bottom of the screen and I just never noticed :)

I agree, my 14 plate vRS has about a 4" gap at the bottom to A pillar the top is close to the edge, SHMBO Yeti is the same.

I've had 2 O3's with heated screens, and the screen replaced in one of them, and the elements do taper, you can really tell when there is ice on there!

Yeah the first morning following replacement was frosty. Really stood out as the edges didn't clear straight away.

Think my brain/eyes have adjusted over the past couple of days as I haven't really noticed the heated elements since.
