I have got a Fortuna clip on bt gps, best I have used and it's just about to go on ebay, unless you wanted it m8?

Charges off USB or Ciggy lighter

I bought a cheapo one on ebay - works a treat. They're all pretty much the same to be honest.

The above offer seems ideal ;)

And I am a greenie, so all is above board :)

I think I also have a spare battery for this and a magnetic dash mount, will have to check when I get back home on Friday.

Alright mate.

Anychance I could try before I buy? Would just be a simple case of seeing if Tomtom can connect to it.

not at all m8, take it away with you, have a play and chuck a cheque in the post. It worked fine on my SPV and tomotom and also on the Mrs's phone, got a tomtom go now so am clearing the other stuff out (arkon dash mount etc etc etc)

not back from Cardiff until Friday though, you ok to wait?

No probs at all. Really appreciate it. Could pick it up over the weekend?

One thing to consider......

When I first got my cheapo Ebay GPS, it wouldnt stay paired to the phone (Nokia 6600). SO each time I wanted to use it I had to go into the TomTom menu and choose "GPS status>add new GPS device".

However, a friend borrowed it and pair it instantly with his o2 XDA PDA. From that moment on it has paired perfectly with my phone. I leave it turned on it the car sometimes and it connects the moment I get in and works straight away.

One thing I do find is that it can take up to a minute to get your location if you're not on the move.

Thanks for the info Goochie.

I shall have a good play with it  .

if you have probs getting it to work with tomtom, PM me - had all sorts of fun and games connecting to my spv c500...all now sorted

I am after one of these for my pda there are loads on fleabay.

I got a Holux GPSlim 236... They reckon it's about the best bluetooth gps receiver you can get at the moment.

£70 though.

It has the SirfStar III receiver in it, so it's got full signal strength pretty much everywhere I've tried it.

I have a TomTom BT GPS + charger (and a copy of TT3 for that matter) for £35 if anyone is interested. PM me for details.

What Josh said!

My company does fleet tracking software and where hardwired GPS is not appropriate we recommend the Holux GPSlim 236 (or GR236 as it is otherwise known). If you get a Bluetooth receiver make sure you get one with a Sirfstar III chipset in it, this means you will get almost full strength everywhere you go including central London which is very useful whereas older models may lose sight of the satellites and have to reacquire a fix!

Mini hijack:

What mobile phones will TT work with? I have currently a SE k750i, a Nokia 3650 and a Nokia 3330. I haven't a clue I'm afraid. Also, can you update these like you can the full size ones?

If none of my mobiles will work, does anyone have a link to a compatibilty list?

Thanks.

you need to be running either windows mobile for smartphone or for pocket pc phone edition, or nokia series 60, or palm OS.

your 750i's no use, the nokias might if they run series 60. you need an extra memory card, too...uk maps take up a fair bit of space...

I run TomTom with UK maps on a Nokia 6600 with 128mb card. Still room for photos etc. on the card too

Goochie, can you hear it ok? I mean, is it clear enough to be used everyday or not really?

I have a cradle thingy that holds the phone in front of one of the air vents in the dash. With the volume on the phone speaker up on 100% I can hear it easily around town (when you really need it) - even over the CD player at volume level 8-9

On the motorway though, you cant hear it with the stereo on too - but it gives you lots of warning. For example "Exit ahead" about 1/2 mile before the junction, I hear the noise but not well enough to get an instruction, so I turn down the volume or just glance at the display.

Using bluetooth does drain the battery though, especially if you set tomtom to use the display backlight all the time (can be set to illuminate only when changing roads)

The phone's hand's free feature works perfectly in the cradle too - even on the motorway I can hear what the other person is saying and I dont even have to raise my voice about normal speaking level.

I was going to pay £350 for a stand alone tomtom but "TheGavsters" suggested doing it this way and it really is ideal - no need to worry about it being stolen from the car either as I always have the phone with me.

Quickly then

This phone link

Will it work with PDA TomTom?
