ParkPilot Currently Not Available after tow bar install

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I had a towbar fitted yesterday with vehicle-specific 13-pin electrics. I didn't drive the car afterwards but now when I start the car I get "The ParkPilot is Currently not available", and when I put it in reverse I get a long beep and the screen doesn't switch over to my parking sensors. We tested all the towing electrics and they work perfectly.

My reverse lights are working ok, as is the rear-wiper which comes on automatically when using reverse with the front wipers on.

Could this simply be coding, or could there be something with the wiring? The fitter did find an unused ignition switched live to tap, could it now think it has a reversing camera?

He's coming back out to sort it, but anything I can get him to check while he's here would be great.

I guess you have to enable the coding that you have a towbar fitted.

Did the garage/fitter code anything after the fitting?

He did code for the electrics, and everything reported perfectly when we tested it. He also cleared the errors that were generated while he was disconnecting stuff.

Without coding, the parking sensors won't work but more importantly, the trailer stability mode is not enabled, that is a serious loss & one that could be life changing or ending.

It was coded after the install of the dedicated wiring. As I said, this all worked fine.

The problem is that the car seems to think it has ParkPilot, I don't know if this is coding or something to do with the ignition switched fuse he used.

Does it have parkpilot showing in the top left corner with a crossed out traffic cone underneath & otherwise just the normal reversing sensors showing ?

Some photos that should hopefully help! My car doesn't look that dusty in person :)

When I turn the engine on I get this:

I press OK and then get this for normal operation:

I tried to change the Parking and manoeuvring settings:

But get this error:

When I put it in reverse I get one long Beep and nothing happens to the screen, where it used to change to the parking sensors graphic.

Hmmm. I think you need to go back through the coding process, something hasn't got stored properly if it was working after setup

Or alternatively, could he have left the sensors unplugged when refitting the bumper? That would probably disable the park pilot.

Hi I was wondering if you ever got this issue fixed, as I have a 2015 Octavia and the problem only started recently. It was working perfectly and then one day just stopped. I get the very same messages on the touch screen as your Skoda.

Also I keep getting the engine management light on which has to do with the heater (glow) plugs. Has anybody any ideas how to fix this also?

The glow plugs will need changing. The code will tell you which one. Use genuine skoda plugs as the system on the mk3 is very sensitive to voltage. The garage who changed mine under their warranty fitted non genuine parts (NGK) They all failed within a week. They have now fitted genuine parts and all is working as it should.

Thanks Ecomatt, the garage I bought the car from obviously fitted Non Genuine Parts as this is the second time this has come up I will inform them of this and get them to fix the problem.

You hardly know anything about the Park Pilot do you Ecomatt?

Not a great deal with the park pilot. If you have acces to, I would scan your car with either vcds or obdeleven and see what it says. I purchased obdeleven and it has been worth its weight in gold of recent.

Does the obdeleven come with the scan program, or is it compatible with most wireless plugins?

You purchase the obdeleven dongle and download the app via the play or apple store.

Ideally you need the pro verion as that allows long coding to be done.
