Why is Octavia "door open ligh" on dash board is not seen ?

Featured Replies

Hi friends,

My Octavia (year 2001, 1.8t, automatic) "door open signal warning light" is not seen on dash. It is simply all dark and off although all doors are open.

It seemed just once accidentally for 2-3 seconds after i pulled out and put on all fuses for some other reason to check fuses. I tried to do same later but never seen again.

All door lock micro switches are working good.

Is a Comfort control module related problem?

Where do you advice me to check?

Thanks for advance.

I think nobody has an idea.

My CCM module number : 1J0 959 799 AH. Some one told me that this CCM module has no such feature and after 2003 versions had this as a standard feature with CCM no : 1J0 959 799 B.

Can any mk1 owner member confirm me about his car such feature with CCM no please?

"Open door signal" on dash came back after i dismantled and reinstalled all dash board,(just dismantled, nothing else done on dash) finally but my happiness gone short because it is gone off again just after i restart engine. Now it is dark again. Is it comfort module problem?

Have you had the car scanned to see what codes it is reporting under module 46?.

I did full scan by VAGCOM couple of times but no error returned. Do i need a scan for module 46 especially?

could be the door lock mech in the drivers door if the fuel pump doesn't prime when the door id opened too...

several things should happen when you open the drivers door , like the door open light, interior light ect (including the priming of the fuel pump) if the fuel pump doesn't prime, the door switches are probably knackered, causing the problem of no door open light.... it can be intermittent as you describe...

Understood now:

When i opened doors:

1- Interior lights are working

2- Door skirt lambs are working

3- Fuel pump is working (i didn't know it i checked it now upon your information)

But door open light is off on dash. It came on temporarily when i removed dash and reinstall but when i restart engine, it gone off permanently.

don't know what else to suggest ... all I know is the door lock switches fail, obviously thats all working...

There are known issues that are less common on the petrol dash panels of the circuit boards behind the dash exhibiting dry solder joints to the leds that display the warning lamp.

Before you look at this , I would be 100% certain that the multiblock connectors on the back of the dash are secure and making a good even contact. The connector only needs to be slightly misaligned to create some quite unusual faults on the dash panel.

As you have no codes, you could try doing VCDS output tests to both the dash panel and the ccm to see if anything appears to be obviously out of sync with the door switch, as the output test signals are sent direct to the relevant module rather than going through the door mechanism.

Hope it helps, and you are doing fine with your english.
