Drivers door microswitch

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I've notice the warning noise for the light left on doesn't happen when the door is opened. Also the interior light doesn't come

on. I've heard this could be down to the micro switch in the door. Can anyone help with my problem?

Yeh more than likely the issue,it's part of the door lock and a common problem, new door lock

Any chance you can link me the part? And would you know if it will have to be coded or not?

This is the microswitch for the driver's door (they are different for each side) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-Right-Door-Lock-Micro-Switch-for-VW-BORA-POLO-GOLF4-MK4-Passat-B5-3BD998786-/161748312763?hash=item25a8f362bb:g:C5kAAOSwHnFVkRLt&clk_rvr_id=1207051410472&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true

They are usually considered all part of the door lock mechanism but if you're handy you can fit a new switch. If you're not handy, a new lock unit complete with switch might be better but genuine ones are very expensive. Cheap ones are available on ebay if you want to take that risk as some of the cheap ones are rubbish.

I would be careful on ebay, I bought a new drivers side windows switch. It said item location was the Netherlands so I thought it would be a decent product. Once I had paid it said I had sent a payment to the Hong Kong Ting Lui corporation. When it arrived it looked fine and it does work but the light inside is red not green and somehow the switches change themselves over so one day the right switch will operate the drivers window and the next day it will operate the passenger window!

Hi I have just fitted a door lock module.  Cost £20 delivered from Amazon.  Seems to work fine.  My lock was deadlocked with the door closed so had to remove existing module with the door shut.  Possible but tricky.

I am in the process of fitting rivnuts to replace the rivets (see other thread re rivnuts).  This is causing me some problems but have now decided to get a rivnut tool.  So I hope this works!

If you are interested in how the module works and how to take it apart a search for Stuzman.  This chap has done some very detailed videos  for a VW Jetta but the lock looks indentical.
