Just bought my first Octavia VRS and to say that I am delighted is an understatement. Enjoy reading all your comments but was just wondering if someone could tell me what the whirring noise is when I open the drivers door. Cheers.

As far as I know it's the fuel pump priming

Arh, the infamous noise.

Several theories, 1) The fuel pump pressurising the system. 2) some form of ABS test.

Dont worry, its normal and they all do it.

It is the fuel pump. I had a leaking fuel hose last week and when I opened the door petrol dribbled out.

Talking of noises - I now park my car in a nice quiet level garage for the first time and SWMBO noticed that a few seconds after parking the car makes a glugging noise for a few minutes!!

Sounds like something draining through a small hole and air glugging back.

I thought it might be fuel making its way out of the lines back to the tank or something but the fuel lines are on the underside of the car body. Hmm.

Any ideas? Aircon maybe?
