First 10 days . .

Featured Replies

10 days ago I took delivery (Personal Lease) of a 150 TDi manual hatch SEL exec in petrol blue.

Impressive, have done around 600 miles in the week with a mix of M6/M5 commute (crawl) and a run down to Winchester.  Variable weather has meant that the aircon and the heated seats/screen have been used.  Still getting used to the auto handbrake and the adaptive cruise and need to spend an hour or so working out what the stereo will do.

Comfortable, spacious and for a car that is not run in yet remarkably economical, 65mpg on the run back from Winchester with cruise set at 70.  Better than the 2015 Octavia it replaced would have done and it was also a TDi150.  Should get better and looking forward to fewer trips to the diesel pump as a result of the bigger tank but the downside is that it costs more to fill up.

Wished the Piglet clone a happy birthday yesterday with a wash and polish, looking at it this morning I didn't do a particularly good job around the sill.  Must vacuum the inside next weekend.

It is still surpassing expectations, a very comfortable place to be and goes fast enough when I want it to.

It has done 22,000 miles and economy is just under 60 mpg which is not bad when my commute includes J11 of the M6 to J3 of the M5 and vice versa (not all of it this morning due to a broken down lorry).  On a long run it is showing 70 plus on the trip at 65-70.  It spends most of its time in eco.

Only issues are the headlights pointing down occasionally  as recorded in another thread (fixed at first service) and a screw in a rear tyre (repaired). Front tyres still showing 4-5mm :-( so at this rate it is only going to need 2 in the two years (maybe I should not have paid the extra to include them in the lease).  I haven't managed to get the personalisation to adjust the seat automatically yet (possibly because I had two keys on me) but not an issue as I am generally the only one who drives the car, it is too big for SWMBO but so was the Octavia.

This was a stopgap as I could not order an Octavia in Jan 17 due to the model change.  I could have a car from stock, but not what I wanted, and they were not taking orders for the new Octavia.  This one, and the last, were personal leases so I have little control over the change date.  The replacement next April may just be another one of these, depends how the lease prices are going on the 1.5l Petrol when it arrives, my daughter has that engine in an A3 ;-).
