After market reverse camera

Featured Replies

Hi again guys,

I have bught reverse camera that came both with wireless and hard cable. I do not have a problem installing hard wire or wireless. My problem is HOW AND WHERE to connect??!? I have search on Youtube and other sites for tips but have yet to find how.

Can someone link or explain to me how to? For a somewhat retarded person like me. Iam starting to lose my mind.

Thx again

Did you check if this reversing camera was compatible with your headunit first?

Can someone please tell me witch system to use. I got sent this, se pic above camera +wiering. This was not the correct one. The unit has no red video input plug. Can I make mods with the existing camera kit?

I dont trust the seller "china" And I do not want to wait another 4 weeks to get replacement sent to me. Witch is going to be wrong again iam sure...

You'll need something like this, or this, or this. But I don't know which.

Thx. Maybe the way to go. But the price is over my limit for now. Trying to go for chep. But I got what I paid for:(

I think you ordered or got the kit for the previous Octavia model.

I think so to! But with a quick search on ebay it looks like no "new" ones is out yet.

I just linked to three different ones. They're also on Aliexpress for slightly less, but what will turn up if you order from there...

Thx. I got the three links thx:) but it is a bit to mutch for now. Spent alote of money on the girl now. So tryed to get away chep. If I order from aliex or ebay china I will prob get sent the same as I have:(

Thx for your time!

It probably was the right kit...

The MK2 Octavia with a OEM headunit would need an RGB input so that camera certainly isn't for a MK2.

I think the Bolero in the MK3 Octavia needs a composite signal, this looks to match the camera you bought. This post might help, it shows an OEM camera is connected to pin6/12 of the headunit, then has connections for power, ground and reverse.

I would connect the aftermarket camera in exactly the same way:

- power from the boot latch

- earth to a suitable earth point

- reverse from one of the reverse lamps or ideally, direct from the BCM

- composite to the headunit using the two pins rather than RCA

You might need a filter or relay on the reverse light feed as bulb monitoring can add noise to RVC cameras.

Similar kits (or exactly the same with a different camera) are on Aliexpress listed as the Octavia up to 2012. Link.

This is very similar to the one I got. I got a 2014 modell the mk3. But seller asuered me that this was the one.

Only in terms of the hole for the boot switch. They will only work with aftermarket headunits unless you add a convertor from composite to rgb for the rns315/rns510 normally found in a mk2.

There are two different hole sizes on the mk3 so that's something to be careful of...

Hi,

if you have a MK111 then you may have the correct camera, see if it is the correct size. If it is then look at this post (it is quite long) but all the info you will need is in it.

have a look after the cable connection info at page 6 onwards there are some pics of how I did it originally on my last car, this one I used the boot release version like yours but all the connections were done the same.

If you need any help or info give me a shout

John
