Tyre damage

I hit a pothole last week and didn't give it much thought until one of the neighbours was complementing me on the new car and asked "what's up with that tyre?".

Obviously the pothole had taken a chunk out of the tyre sidewall.

So, in the opinion of the knowledgeable folk on here, is this tyre still useable or do I need to replace it?

*looks* cosmetic but it might be worth having a poke in the deeper bit with a small screwdriver to see if the chords have become exposed.

As @James@Pentagon_Seat Said, as long as there's no chords showing it'll be fine. Just keep an eye on it if you go over anymore pot holes or if you happen to scrape the tyre.

Most of the damage seems to be to the raised ridge which is designed to protect the wheel rim from damage - it did its job.  I had a similar incident a few weeks ago but the tyre (225/40-18 Goodyear F1 Asymmetric with 6mm tread!!!) developed a bulge and had to be replaced

Think I'll use it for a while, around town, and see if any bulges, etc develop.
