Switching off with keyless go & DSG

Featured Replies

Today I noticed that my car turns off when I open the driver's door? I've had the car nearly two years and it's the first time I've noticed it does this has anyone else notice this on their car with the keyless go button and DSG.

I'm pretty sure the when I've done it before a message came up that's said please switch engine off or something like that but as I say now when I pull up put the handbrake on and put it in Park it seems to just switch off the ignition when the door is opened so I was wondering whether I need to go to the dealers to have it looked at or if they all do that.

Any help is appreciated.

Just tried mine; with the engine running and the car in Neutral it beeps when I open the door and tells me to select 'P' but once 'P' is selected it seems quite happy to leave the engine running although the engine was cold so stop/start wasn't active.

I wonder whether it's another instance of the car thinking "I'm not going anywhere so why keep the engine running?"

Have you tried it cold / does the engine restart when you close the door again?

Not tried it from cold only after a journey of about an hour put it straight into the park open the door ignition switches off?

I will try it cold tomorrow morning

I am pretty sure that it hasn't done it before and having had it nearly 2 years and not notice it do it I seem to think that there may be something wrong with it

thanks

Ohh, yes! That's a cool feature. I use it daily. When the start/stop is enabled and the engine is warm enough to enter the stop mode upon Parking, if you don't press the ignition button and just open the doors, the car will power down, but will beep an alarm that lights are on (daylights).

My car rarely gets enough use for the stop/start to activate but it has a couple of times recently at the end of a journey and I've noticed that it's not just the driver's door opening that will shut off the ignition but also the seatbelt release.

If you open the driver's door with the seatbelt still fastened the ignition will stay on until you unfasten the seat belt.

My "key" operated DSG SE does all this stuff also. Quite normal if stop/start is active.
