How to remove cigarette lighter socket?

I plug my dashcam into the 12v socket in the centre console of my Octavia but the camera is very intermittent, often not coming on at all. I've replaced the cable to the camera and think the problem might lie in the socket so how can the socket be removed, is it simply a push fit or does the centre console have to be removed?
