I've just got a '52 Octavia L&K diesel second hand for getting back and forth to my new job. Unfortunately my new job is 95 miles away :(

This means I'll be cover about 1000 miles a week, so servicing costs are important. The car has variable servicing but I was wondering what was involved in the 10,000 miles service because my wife has just had her first on her Fabia VRs and it cost an arm and leg.

Can it be done DIY on a variable service

If your doing that kind of mialage you should get more than 10k per service,more like 16-19k,you get it serviced when it tells you that you need it.

10k service should be sub £100

However if it was near a year old or wouldnt have covered 20k in the same year then an annual service would have been required. Around £150-£180 for this depending on the labour rate.

Variable service on your car would probably be around 20K but the service is more expensive due to the higher grade oil.

Our L&k 110 Diesel is on variable, the best it managed was 28000, Its just had its 4th service at 103500 miles so thats an average of 25875 per service
