You may need to spec a sunroof, if you want to get in to/out of your car when it's in your garage.

How did the Leon Cupra test go?

It's been postponed, we ate out last night & we are both suffering from the experience.............

I've had a short drive in a Cupra ST 300 a few weeks back, but that was on unfamiliar roads around Tunbridge Wells + SWMBO wasn't  invited to drive.

Today's jaunt was to be closer to home & we would both drive.

The biggest problem, (probaly just for us) is that the SEAT feels like a cheap Golf, not to drive but more in that there is less space in the car & that it's a bit noisy.

We we do reorganize a test drive we will travel to / from the dealer in our Golf, to enable a proper comparison.

Watch this space!

A lot of people remark about Seats, they just feels cheap & many former seat owners complain of rattles & other noises.

If looks are your thing, VAG sell Seats

If you prefer value for money, VAG sells Skodas

Want a bit of quality ?, VAG sells VW's

Or if you must have quality throughout, VAG sells Audi

Its not rocket science!!!

Another black one!

I've just been reading Skoda UKs press release now that the first 245s are in the UK:

http://www.skodamedia.com/index.php/latest-news/the-heat-is-on-as-skoda-unleashes-new-octavia-vrs-245-in-the-uk

and I'm wondering what their warranty position will be if anyone experiences failures etc. whilst using one on a track day, seeing as the car has a lap timer and all the other toys designed to help in such conditions?

A fine choice, each to their own, but not convinced it works on  the FL.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking a broader choice would be nice?

Saw a '15 Meteor Grey vRS Estate today in Bristol. Looked great.....really like the colour.....

....until I got closer & saw the fake right exhaust. "Oh no, an oil burner, what a shame" I thought! Spoilt the whole thing for me!

Still, cool colour, like it a lot. Makes the car stand out from the norm.

Not sure if Meteor Grey works for the FL though - only black seemingly pulling off the new lights so far for me.

I thought so, but had a test drive together with friend of mine from Netherlands, lets say, two weeks ago. He arrived in his GTE high spec, panorama, music, professional navi etc, and we had a chance to compare GTE and RS230 (navi, panorama, dcc, canton...). Not really that much difference in the terms of quality which you can personally feel. Maybe there is level of quality which is hidden below, but overall personal experience is quite comparable.

Both cars are top from the factory's line in its segment and totally comparable. Can say some things I liked on Golf, and some thing he liked in Škoda. Impossible to say that RS230 is yelling that its value for money, which it certainly is, no doubt. From his point of view GTE in Holland is also, as he gets some tremendous tax deductions, like 200-300 euros per month less, cause driving plug-in hybrid. So, this story is market relative, vRS in his country is way more expensive on the road then electric golf. :)

Rocket Science isn't really Rocket Science...........

Oh & you forgot Bentley............., probably decent quality too.

FWIW I'd be happy with a vRS 300, AWD of course, but VW will never allow Skoda to build it.

Perhaps I should find an older AWD diesel vRS & spend serious money on a new engine & transmission.

Back to the shopping............

Yep that's what I'd have liked too...but any petrol 4x4 estate or Scout would have had my money last year! (ie models they sell in other markets, nothing new)

Thanks for posting that - useful info & pics.

TBH the fl face is growing on me - and the 245 even looks good in red as this sets off the gloss black stuff.

Still sits about 25-30mm too high though, as with all skoda products...

I'd pretty much rules out a 245 as my next car when i first saw the ugly lights, but having priced up a golf R wagon, cupra wagon, civic type r via my company scheme i think its more and more likely that the replacement to my 230 will be a 245.  If so it'll be the 4th vrs in a row :)

If you are spending your company scheme money, but it's your choice, rather than a fleet manager's, then it's possible that the golf R &/or Cupra wagon might be cheaper than you might expect.

Maybe it was a one-off, but we saved app. £9K on our Golf last year, which is why we bought it............

We're not looking to replace it, we are looking for something "nice, fun but still usable" to share the garage.

Our EOS is fun, especially in decent weather, but we still fancy another car to play with, whilst we can still enjoy driving!

As Senior Citizens, perhaps we should be looking for a sensible, economical & tallish car, but we are still too young (at heart) to be sensible, + SWMBO has recently decided that we should have a posh car in our mini-fleet...........

So, watch this space, but there might be a newish A4 on the drive, (Quattro 2.0 TSi or V6 diesel of course) sometime soon rather than a Leon.

Latest Civic Type R is way uglier than the FL to my eyes, but beauty of course is in the eyes of the beholder and all that.

(What's going on with that starnge triple exhaust?)

its definitely an "eye-of-the-beholder" thing, but i guess where i'm coming from is the vRS is a bit boring visually which belies it's performance.  I can see that's an attraction to some and i've been very happy with mine (all 3 of them) but i guess i'm just hankering after a change and something a bit more exciting.  I'm not usually a fan of shouty cars but maybe i have a mid-life crisis creeping up on me? :)

3 part exhaust is all function apparently, reduces boom at motorway speeds..

..  and, er..  'cos like an F40 innit.

And there was me worrying my VRS 245 maybe a bit shouty when it eventually arrives compared to my old stealthy black Mk2 VRS.

2.5 TFSI from TTRS in a 4x4 Octy (even a Scout!) would be fun, as per Boss Fox's Yeti.

Jealous maybe, but correct.........

Diseasels have their place, but not in a car with RS, ST, etc badging............

RS works, (just) on a sporty Octavia, but would be better with a proper RS powertrain,as has been suggested recently on this thread, but wouldn't sit well on a Superb or Kodiaq.

Same logic applies to the baby cars, including a GTi Polo.
