You may need to spec a sunroof, if you want to get in to/out of your car when it's in your garage.

For anyone who's interested and thinking about the Infotainment Online system you can spec, I've done a bit of research:

This is a £400 optional extra, and sorry if it's been posted before.  I know that it's still quite new as an option.

Potentially Useful features:

Automatic emergency call to Skoda, who will then call the Emergency services in the event of an accident where the airbags are deployed

Breakdown assistance button, so you don't have to work out where you are- they can find the car using GPS

Remote diagnostics without having to visit a dealer

Automatic service booking/notification for faults etc.

Live traffic updates via Google Maps

Potentially bad features:

Remote diagnostics without having to visit a dealer (possibility of someone hacking into the car, or getting hold of login details to the remote access system and causing damage or mischief)

Needs a constant data connection via a SIM card or tethered to your smartphone, so could be using a lot of data very quickly.

Subscription based (?) no mention of how much though.  The emergency and breakdown call are free for 14 years I think, but the online services require the subscription.

Only seems to work with iPhone or Android.  Those of us who choose alternative OS's won't be able to use most of the online services.

With regards to the remote access feature, it seems there is a Private Mode you can enable that stops these working.  The only features that continue to work whilst in this mode are the emergency call and breakdown assistance :)

TBH there are some other bits not covered in the above, like the bigger back brake discs filling out those 19" wheels, I've also seen some photos on the various car magazine of bits n bobs that are nice but, not essential.

Dont start the great brake disc size debate again, I cant cope!

Rear discs are now 310mm to look better, can't see bigger rear discs adding greatly to performance.

I can't see the rears making it stop any quicker. The brakes on my 230 are awesome as they are

I agree, just for the looks or VAG parts bin has been raided due to sales.

Good bad sales figures I don't know, I hear conflicting things about how well or not the O3FL is selling

About 12 months ago Skoda changed the size of front discs on the diesel vrs by 28mm or something similar. It was unannounced, one of those the brochure is correct at the time.of printing things.

A few people got properly upset. It went daft and I left the forum for 6 months as it wound me up so much!

Agreed, unless you are going very fast in reverse the fronts do most of the stopping.  If they didn't the rears would lock up as the weight transfers and the rear of the car lifts.

Still wins Top Trumps though. (joke)

Well those factory order lead times aren't going down.

Tractor drivers have always had an inferiority complex !

But didn't the smaller front brakes mean they could get away with 16" winter setup ?

The DCC is definitely an optional extra, I ordered it last week

I can confirm that has been my experience too. I wish Skoda would get the configurator wrong less often.

You gotta build week yet Juan?

£2K deposit from Skoda and 17.5% discount from the dealer was a very good price for me

I have had several cars of them

The best discount I've found so far is 13.6 % for a cash sale.

Q? Buy a basic 6-month old vRS 230 DSG for app. £21/22K, or a new loaded new one on a 67 plate for £30K ?

Or, a cheap Cupra ST 290 DSG now or wait for an ex-demonstrator Cupra ST 300 AWD?

13.6% is the best deal I've seen on the 245 as yet.

Have you checked out the deals on a new Leon?  I've seen a 20% discount offered on-line today on the Cupra ST 300 AWD, which brings it well into the ballpark of a DSG Estate 245.

Leon not for me, however.

If the next purchase was going to be the sole car, then I'd prefer an Octy rather than the Leon, 'cos the Leon isn't quite big enough for us as an all-rounder.

As a reasonably sensible "fun" car it makes more sense, but at RRP is too expensive to justify the expenditure.

My best Carwow Cupra discount so far has been 16.9% but I'd like to know where I could do better............
