1.6 TDI advice requested

Featured Replies

Hi, newbie here. My car is about to be out of it's warranty & I had a few general questions as I would like to start fettling with it. Apologies for the wall of text my phone isn't letting me put periods in! So it's going for some warranty work soon (expires in a month) & and I wondered; it's developed a 'chirrup' noise but only under certain (specific) conditions - is it still OK for me to be doing a 70 mile commute with this? It only appears after the car has been started, but not if it's been left for a while. E.g. if I've come home, left it 10-15 minutes & then gone out again. The noise happens on boost & but is only on for a few seconds & disappears up the rev range. It goes away after about 20 seconds of driving but always happens when the car hasn't been left ages. Sticky wastegate, bearings, a belt? Who knows. It's serviced regularly at a good & trustworthy non-skoda dealer using Skoda parts.

have a close listen to your turbo solenoid. located near air filter behind the battery. This failed on my 1.6tdi. It has 3 small pipes and electric cable connected to it.
