Shorter Rear Bump Stops

Featured Replies

Recently fitted my Apex RDX Coilover dampers to the rear of my Octy Vrs, I cut down some new bumps stops and fitted them to some new dust sleeves (after market) but these dust sleeves are smaller in the internal diameter than the OEM dust sleeves. As I move off my drive way I hear a hollow knocking or rubbing sound coming from the near side, I suspect that its the aftermarket dust sleeves rubbing against the damper. I still have the OEM dust sleeves - my question is has anybody sourced some shorter bump stops which fit into the OEM dust sleeves.

I haven't seen aftermarket shorter bump stops, but I didn't look too hard to be honest.

How low have you gone to require shortend bump stops?

I fitted new OEM bumpstops and dust covers to my coilovers and suffer no issues.

And my tyres are flush to the arch lip height wise

@Flyfisherman - Most manufacturers' bump stops are too short and hard any way; about all they do is absorb the bang of suspension arm on bodyshell as the spring rate goes infinite, rather than give you a progressive rising rate over the last 2" of travel.
