Cambelt change

Featured Replies

Hi, i see the cam belt is 130k miles or 5 years - when changing the part is their a recommend part you guys request or push for? (if not having work carried out at a skoda / vw dealership

I ask as mine has done about 70k miles and is only 4 years old. would love to have got to at least 100k before the change but dont want to risk it..

You should always use genuine parts where possible, even if using an non-franchised independent garage.

Skoda parts, especially if bought at trade prices by your chosen garages are not much, if at all more expensive than aftermarket patterned parts.

You better have it renewed at the 5 years, ok..you can get a few months more with the old but not over 6m.

Better go by  the manufacturer's instructions as this is the most critical part of the engine and if you care the car then it's not worth play to see further limits...

Even if mileage hasn't been reached, the years worn play major roll after.

Yes a bit f costly situation but....
