Strange graphic on the Kodiaq display

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I took a diesel Kodiaq out for a test drive today, and while I was driving along I heard a loud beep and an image on the maxidot display just like this one (found on Google Images) came up:

After a few seconds it went away again. Does anyone know what it means please?

Thanks

Warning or emergency braking at low speeds.

It means your to close to the car in front

You were about to crash into something - according to the Kodiaq's thinking.

You can dial down the sensitivity of the frontal alert system(s).

ps - cheapskate demo only has black and white instead of bright Red graphic :-)

It breaks it self as well to get your attention. Like a lite judder. But if you are in a narrow road the system thinks you'll have a head on collision. Which made me jump when I first saw the warning :-p

Pops up when someone cuts you up as well, when they invade your braking space

I had a Kodiaq for four days to test drive an SE L that also was a black and white warning as above.

Yes, colour maxi DOT is standard in Edition and an £85 option on SE L (I've chosen it). I believe from W22 onwards, colour maxi DOT will be standard on SE L too.

Got exactly the same symbol but in bright red the first time that I drove my recently departed Octavia 3, only thing was that at that time Skoda didn't bother to include the warning symbol in the car manual and garage didn't have a clue what it was either. I think Front Assist can be a touch over sensitive in some cars, when it came on there wasn't even another car on my side of the road but there was another car coming towards me on the other side of the road on a twisty country road outside of Glasgow, hardly dangerous.

Here the dealer recomends that the proximity range should be set to medium, because if set to maximum it might over-react when someone cuts you off.
