Just brought a 2016 Rapid 1.4tsi dsg

Featured Replies

Just brought a 2016 Rapid SE 1.4 tsi dsg for the wife. Totally impulse buy, was considering a Fabia so know very little about the Rapid. Still has 2 years of warranty so should be fine, is there anything I should be looking for when we collect next week?

If you hear a buffeting type noise from the rear area it's most likely the tailgate needs adjusting. Check the front and rear doors drainage holes are clear, can collect water. Oh and make sure the tyre pressures are correct, many dealers can over inflated giving a harsh ride.

Above assuming you are buying a saloon/hatch and not the spaceback, most still apply though unless they have fixed the door drains on your model, don't worry it's not a concern and an easy fix.

Sorry to butt in - just recently got a 2016 space back - keep reading about door drains, water and the "fix" - is there thread with some pictures in so i know what to look for??

Google is your friend, but have a look at this vid below. Basically no big deal, just get on your knees and and pull at the rubber seal, not too hard though. Pull around the seal towards the front and rear of the door there you will find the drain holes, well slits, the rubber trim sits against these and can block them.

I think it's a good idea to poke something like the end of a cable tie up the drain slot to clear any crud or body wax etc left in the from new. All I do everytime I wash the car is just ease these rubber trims away from the drain holes, doing this seems to keep the holes clear. A fix that can be done is to trim away part of the rubber seal, like cut a V in the rear of the seal, it aids drainage, I've never done it, no need, mine drain ok.

Oh and BTW do check both rear and front doors seals in the same way. Mine had a little water collecting in the front NS door (about a teacup full) since doing regular checks by just pulling the seals at the drain  holes points it's been fine.

Thanks for the advice. I will check that when we collect next week. That is a lot of water, still a simple fix.

Water in door complaints seemed to die out around 2014. As did booming hatchback tailgates. I be surprised if your 2016 still has those issues.

Thats good to know, i'll have a look anyway, see what they did :)

The 1.4tsi should feel er "Rapid"  - I Think the 0-60 is about 9 secs

I have the Superb 220 for that, the wife doesn't ever get anything over about the the first 2/5ths of the rev range anyway.

Anyone know what was standard spec on the Rapid SE back in about April 2016, already asked Skoda and dealer for a full spec sheet, (or an old brochure) and neither of them seem to be able to tell me very much apart from the only option supplied with the car was a spare wheel and heavy duty kit. Car was registered in July 2016, but I think it was built several months earlier, I have the VIN but don't know how to translate that to exact build week.

SE standard spec is pretty limited, though it has a vast option list.
