2007 octavia vrs trouble

Featured Replies

So I've recently purchased a 2007 vrs octavia diesel, so a week went by after buying the car the dpf light came on so I done a bit of Googleing and seen if you drive at 200 rpm for 15 mins it does a regen so it gos off like it said, but a couple of days later I started the car and I got 3 lights on the dash first is a coil second engine light and third is the dpf light again also the car is in limp mode....anyone any ideas on what the problem mite be???

Thanks Adam

Did you purchase it from a dealer or private sale? If it is from a gargae I would take it back as it will have warranty. Either way it needs scanning for fault codes by a specialist with vcds.

Private sale unfortunately i brought it to a garage earlier and they said the dpf was fu*ked and recommend I get it taken off and remapped just sounds like bags of money to go into this car

Get on the motorway and sit behind a lorry (56mph) keep the revs fairly low and have a nice long drive.  The car does need to be up to running temperature beforehand.

For me it's the m5 oldbury junction to frankley services and the light goes out.

My advice is drive it further and let the measurements drop further.

Some on here have removed the dpf and mapped it out.

Have the revs gone up to about 2000 rpm on tickover?

deffo get it scanned first

i really dislike when people sell poor cars to people knowing full well they have issues

I already done this first time it happened but the light was back on a few days after, in the garage today to get remap and dpf removed I got to see the dpf and it was blocked soild so hopefully when she is back together it will be all good, I'll report back and let you know how I get on. Thanks for the advice

Yeah I'd say the car was cleared of faults the day I bought it, still i did get a good price for car but hopefully after the dpf is gone she will be grand again
