New Spaceback arrived yesterday

Recommended Posts

I took delivery of my new Spaceback 1.2 SE Tech yesterday. It was ordered on 16th March, ready for collection on 5th June, but I couldn't get to the garage until yesterday.

It replaces my Rapid hatch 1.2 SE Connect, so not a great a deal of difference in terms of spec. The new Amundsen unit seems a bit slicker than my old version. I also now have climate control and a stop/start engine. Other than that I knew exactly what I was getting having had the hatch for the last three years.

The other big difference is the colour, Corrida Red. Wow, that colour was made for this car. I'm hoping for good weather this weekend so I can give it a good wax coat.

I also have a few goodies from SuperSkoda waiting in the spare room. I'll get those fitted too.

Just done the first addition. I liberated the bonnet insulator from my old car before I took it into the garage. As I suspected the new car didn't have one, cost saving I suppose! I've just fitted it. It looks a lot smarter with it in place. It is a proper Skoda part, well insulated, so I'm sure it will dampen the engine noise. I haven't really got a measure to go by though, having had it fitted in my old car and not really driving the new without for more than a couple of miles. Anyway I like it.

The weather was lovely today after work, so I sorted out a couple more basic additions to the new Spaceback.

Replaced the funny gas bottle thing with a full size steel spare. I got this about five years ago in a Rooster, this is it's third home now.

Also fitted the boot sill protector from SuperSkoda. It's a genuine part and dead easy to fit. Looks great.

Finally the cargo net pack.

Looking good.

Dave,

The sill protector came from SuperSkoda. It was only about £25. Very easy to fit, came with instructions and alcohol cleaning pad, also it had the adhesive strips fitted. Just clean and dry the sill thoroughly (I used window cleaner/degreaser), wipe over with the alcohol pad and stick down. I marked it up with masking tape to make sure I got it central, as you only get one chance. I'm very pleased with it. After three years of use the boot sill on my previous Rapid hatch was battered. I would recommend one.

Loving the cargo nets, i may need to invest as i'm always having stuff roll around the boot when I pop to the shops, especially since they charge for bags now.

They get used every day mate. The upright ones at the rear and along the right hand side are double nets, so you can keep things in them, or trap things behind them. Very practical, very Skoda! I would recommend them. Since these photos I have also put a rubber boot liner in, works great with the nets.
