Favour to ask someone with a mk3 and 5 mins to spare...

Featured Replies

This may be one of those 'please could someone go out onto their drive and check something for me' threads...

On my car the bottom of the nearside rear wheelarch, behind the wheel (i.e. the bit of the bumper that the mudflap is screwed into) is considerably 'looser' than the one on the offside.

This may be just because the car is 'like that' (and the thing that makes me think this may be the case is the fact that the exhaust is on that side, and so the bumper is visibly cut away differently underneath the nearside floor in order to accommodate the exhaust).

However, it MAY be due to the fact that a certain 3 year old son has just run past the car with a tennis racquet and accidentally caught it underneath the wheelarch on the nearside, prising the bumper away a bit and causing a noise that sounded a bit like a something made of plastic cracking underneath a car...

Anyone prepared to go outside and have a bit of a poke either side for me? The nearside isn't exactly hanging off but the offside is a lot more solid when you give it a bit of a shove.

A thousand thankyous in advance to any kind soul who puts me out of me misery :)

Just checked mine, its tight on both sides - probably what you don't want to hear!

Sorry!

Haha. Thought it might be! Thanks very much for having a look.

Over to the dealer this week it is then...

It might just be a case of loosening some screws, pushing the bumper back in and re-tightening. Or maybe even just pushing back into place, compare the alignment on both sides.

Hope it's an easy fix for you either way.

I'm a Yorkshire man, mines very tight
