ESP fault 01435

Featured Replies

Hi,

Last week, I was overtaking a tractor mowing the verge and it flung a big rock out right in front of me. I think it went under the car at the front left wheel and bounced out under the rear right door (from the dent in the sill.) The car was fine all the way home. When I started it he next morning, the ESP light was permanently illuminated. The car is a 2007 Pre-FL vRS petrol.

I just received my copy of VCDS and did a scan. It threw up:

    01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

I've found this is a common fault on the 1Z and potentially expensive. I tried clearing it but it came straight back.

Where abouts is the ABS module with the sensor in please? I couldn't see anything obviously broken when I looked under the car and I would like to see if there's a big dent in it. Are there any pieces of wiring under the car that, if damaged, would throw this fault rather than it being the sensor?

What are the chances that this fault just happened to show up the next morning and it's a total coincidence and nothing to do with the rock?

Thanks,

Paul.

Fault was fixed by the dealer with the repair kit (£650 - Ouch but better than the £1500 they said it would be if they had to replace the complete unit)

They think it was coincidence and nothing to do with the rock.
