Should i, shouldn't i...?

Featured Replies

I'm being tempted by my bosses car. He's got a new one coming next month & is letting his old one go for a steal.

It's a Audi A4 Avant 1.8T Sport Estate, 60k on clock, mostly motorway miles - very tidy.

Parkers reckons the p/x for this should be

How much petrol does it use?

Does it have the "S-Line" pack ? if not, dont bother.

Sounds a nice car, the cars are sadly not as economical with fuel but very nice and sturdy to drive, pm Kenny if you want to know how he has found his:)

It is the S-Line version, Pearl paint, Half leather/alcantara etc...

Not sure bout efficiency, i know it won't even come close to the furby though. I do do 300miles a week though, mainly country lanes.

I always faniced a Octy vRS estate which i assume is the same fundmentally, i always prefered the curves on the audi but they're always too expensive :)

Ta,

What year? My 1.8T only had 163 bhp.It was upped later on to 190.Makes a difference.

Lovely cars though.

You'll get about 30-35 mpg depending on how you drive it. I guess it's down to how much you want it, is it worth the higher running costs ? An Audi variable service is around £450, it probably has 18" wheels so that's over £100 a corner for decent tyres ......

Still, nice car. Cruise can be retro-fitted. As for losing the Xenons, I must admit I thought they were pretty pointless, until I got them, I wouldn't like a car without them now ! You are getting leather/alcantra though, which is nice. I haven't ever driven a Fabia vRS, but I can tell you the Audi A4 steering isn't as precise as the Octy vRS, although it does require less effort to drive.

I'd be tempted myself if the missus didn't have an A4 already, it does sound like a bargain.

On 300 miles a week, I'm not sure I'd do it unless you like the better refinement. I do a similar mileage and not sure I could trade in my 45mpg. Perhaps if you got your vRS remapped you might be more tempted to keep it?

The A4 will be quite a large car and maybe the usefulness of the estate boot area is deemed a big factor for you? It wouldn't be for me though. :)

It comes down to MPG really. If fuel costs are an issue then keep the Fabia, if not then get the A4 - it is a very nice car.

You guys have pretty much nailed my train of thought on the head.

Economy is an issue, as is higher running costs.

I don't really want to mod the furby, i don't want the insurance hassle (i have the mini for that  )

It comes down to, am i too much of a tart who doesn't mind spendin more on fuel & serviceing for the sake of some boot space &better lookin/quicker motor...

Would a 1yr old Furby vRS get me

better lookin/quicker motor...

Talk about lighting the blue touch paper ;)

Would a 1yr old Furby vRS get me

shhhhhh, let it burn....

Would a 1yr old Furby vRS get me

IMO unless u need the extra boot space does that outweigh the high fuel consumption and general running costs???...i'd say that day2day the Furby would feel just as quick as a 1.8T also!

Why not try and sneak a drive in the A4 that might make up your mind either way;)

The A4 interior is vastly superior to the Fabia or an Octavia. But like the others have said - if you dont want the higher running costs, stick to the Fabia.

If your boss wasn't letting his go would you be thinking about changing from the Fabia anyway? The answer to that question is, I suspect, the same as the answer to the question at the start of this thread ;)

I had a sneaky drive the other day, and if i'm honest - i agree with the comment that they don't really feel any different. (apart from general interior of course)

I'm not looking to move on from the Furby, it's a corkin car and i have no reason or want to get rid of it other than this Audi being a bit of a bargain. (i've always lusted after an RS4 Estate - never gonna insure one of them this side of 40yrs old :( )

I think i'll leave it, my boss knows i'm interested & i've told him to keep me informed. If he get's no interest he'll let it go even cheaper!

MPM :D
