WINDOWS STArtup

Featured Replies

Just been looking at startup in Ccleaner and I'm amazed at how many programs are set to run when windows starts. There's an option here to delete.Apart from my wifi adapter and McAfee , do I really need all this lot set to run, as I'm now finding that I start windows, and WAAAAIT.  Would it cause any problems if I deleted all but this two.

As I would say if you posted "my car won't start", "they're only golden, not crystal!"

Which version of Windows, exactly, and what programs and tasks are being auto-run on start-up?

W7, Ken. But sorted, as far  as I can see. I made a restore point, then set about decimating the start up, and no problems- just a faster start up.

@VWD OK you're sorted, but I'd still need to know which version of W7 if you weren't.

Ultimate/64bit , Ken. Also on a real computer, but I also run XP Pro .

I wonder if our serial numbers for XP Pro and/or 7 Ultimate/64bit are the same... :giggle:

I never wanted to move from XP Pro, but when the security support was stopped I felt I had to go forwards (obviously not to Vista though).

Similar pattern- five groups of five letters/numbers . XP pro must conform to some set pattern, as I have two sets of ( genuine) keys that work with my one OEM disc, and activate on line. However that is 32 bit. But key on both is similar pattern.
