Another Dump Valve Question..sorry

Featured Replies

I know I know, theres loads of questions on here and the internet in general, however thats half the problem. Loads of conflicting advice.

So finally got my 2003 VRS running well and all standard. Unfortunately the better half likes the woosh of a dump valve. I threw the nasty atmospheric one in the bin when I first bought the car. I know the standard recirc is the best for stock, but the boss thinks otherwise. Bought a split one to satisfy the ecu and the misses.

Instructions that came with it suggest to fit the boost pressure pipe to the bottom of the piston outlet and the side of the piston outlet into the intake pipe. Is this correct? Boost pressure acting on the piston?

Please lets not get into a discussion which type is better, I already know, but I just want a quiet life. Happy Wife, Happy Life..

So Correct way

And Wrong way ?

Red arrow is from boost pipe post-turbo, blue arrow is going back pre-turbo to the 'hockey puck' and yellow arrow is pointing to the funnel vent. I have a forge splitter. No fault codes yet (: and many whoosh whoosh sounds!

Typo

Get a remap, the standard one is very audible then, best of both worlds.

Letting the better half loose in a standard VRS is a scary enough thought, I'll have it mapped one day but prefer her to get some experience first.. Its got the standard airbox on so sure that ould muffle most sound with a standard diverter anyhow. Not a fan of cone filters..

No I have kept the standard airbox

Ok thats cool. A remap is on the cards but low on the list of priorities, timing belt kit first :o
