Remap done

Featured Replies

Well after much deliberation I've had the remap done on my Mark 2 Superb and overall I'm pleased with it.

I had intended to travel to Shark but work and family commitments meant I couldn't fit in the huge trek so I started looking locally and found an auto electrician just a couple of miles away that does Quantum tuning remaps. It seemed to be the usual 140 to 180 bhp  and 100nm upgrade that most offer and was done in around 40 minutes.

like most others that have stated before about remaps, it has made the power delivery more smooth and whilst it hasn't transformed the car, (not what I was after) it does make  a fair bit more oomph available on tap for overtaking should I need it.

For £250 I'm very pleased and it only added another £13 to my insurance come renewal time with LV so happy days.  Time will tell if my mpg improves, I have a reasonable journey to Goodwood at the weekend so That'll be my first opportunity to see.. So far, thumbs up for Quantum.

mpg will be interesting in the fullness of time.

Very interesting as my Edition 100 (MKI Superb) had a Quantum map on it and it was awful... very peaky power delivery and ruined the drive IMO.

The Shark remap on the 170 MKII Superb however did transform the car and it was just as smooth as std.

I got a remap for £149 at Midland Remaps in Wolverhampton. Before anyone sneers at the price, I will say that it has dramatically improved throttle response and gives noticeably more shove for over-taking.

If I'm honest, not much happens low down but at 3500+ rpm it goes like a scalded cat. MPG is unaffected and LV didn't add anything to my insurance.

This was over 18 months ago and it hasn't wrecked the engine, corrupted the emissions or given any negative effects whatsoever.  I love the way it drives: I waft when I want to waft and I rocket when I want to rocket...

Update

Couple of weeks since it's been done and still really pleased with it, plenty of oomph when I need it but done a few long runs now with tank to tank checks and mpg has gone back up again to about 1 mpg better than it was before the 'FIX'.

I reckon that will go up even more when I don't keep pressing the loud pedal to see what's on tap :D

It really makes a difference for me on long motorway or dual carriageway runs as it's much smoother and plenty on tap in sixth without having to change gear as muck.

A thumbs up from me :D
