I was standing at the front of my 1.4Tsi manual while SWMBO gently moved it (in eco mode). The crisp zing reminded me of an old Alfa Romeo or Lotus Ford twin cam. And that's praise from me. First time I've heard the engine under power to be honest- I  find the car to be very smooth and quiet from inside.

Open the window, drive at a normal pace, then put your foot down and get under load then drop the gas. Mine makes a whoosh noise. I'm assuming it's the turbo. Does the 1.4 do it too?

I also can't hear the engine while driving, because of general road noise, even with the windows open. But I now know that pedestrians will enjoy that sporty rasp.
