Octavia 1.4 tsi dsg yearly petrol costs and MPG

Featured Replies

Hi,

Attached is a printout of all my Petrol Costs and mileage for the last year. I live in Nottingham.

My typical daily ride is 10 miles along the ring road before rush hour and the ride back in rush hour.

I have documented long journeys in the list.

See what you think

SkodaCost.pdf

That pretty well matches my 1.4tsi (140hp manual, wagon estate) fuel consumption but on less annual mileage.

I'm paying in Aus dollars/cents per litre what you are paying Pounds/pence but I only buy 95 Octane.

You can see my Fuelly in my signature if you are viewing with a PC.

Don't match mine.....

lol

Looking at the Honest Johns real-life returns the 1.4tsi is about as close to official claims as any.

I suspect TMWNA has not posted his figures there though.

Sadly I'm not getting anywhere near but my commute is solid stop start crawling along for 7 miles both ways.

I'm getting about 33-34mpg. Longer runs 38-45mpg. (1.4TSi Elegance DSG)

My expectations were low because my previous normally aspirated e90 320i (56 plate) got 26-27mpg over the same commute and 33-37mpg on long runs.

A 25% increase in fuel economy and £30 a year Road Fund Licence as opposed to £240 is still a win in my book.

And before anyone asks, I don't drive it like I stole it :tongueout:. Eco mode all the time and generally gentle driving, riding the torque.

Sounds awful :(

What's your average speed for the commute?

Hard as it maybe to believe but, my Driving Licence is like "a broken pencil" & has been for the last 8 years

However, in my youth I was known for gaining more points than Spurs in a season

Tony, you are the only bloke I know who lowers the windows by fooling the car into thinking it's gonna roll!!

bloody crew protection is a PITA, can't get the rear airbags without though

lol

20 mph. Some bits are 40 and others 30 but it's very stop start.

I haven't experienced crew protection yet, despite it being specced. What does it do that makes it a PITA?

opens the windows to 55mm & tensions the seat belts when you start sliding

Must try harder then I think ;)

Crew protection? Does it open the windows for fresh air to prevent puking or to let it out? :D

Apparently it lets the airbags deploy faster
