The metal cover around the auto gear selector (arrowed in image) has become detached and makes awful clanking noises when used. So a few questions for readers here if I may. Is this problem a diy fix?  If not is it likely to be expensive? Finally, does this part have a proper name?

If your car is under 3 years old it can be fixed under warranty.

Sadly it's a 2012 model.
