Skoda Praktik/Roomster sudden boost loss on load

Featured Replies

Hello, i have a problem with Skoda Praktik/Roomster with 1.2 diesel engine.

On heavy load, like passing another car on the highway or something or accelerating on 4th or 5th gear, the sudden power/boost loss happens, like

somebody cutting the fuel line. Then the engine check light will come up and stays on for some time. If the boost loss happens, the engine remains without

power, like the ecu is blocked not to overload the engine or something.

After that if i restart the engine, the power comes back, and everything is normal except the engine check light will remain on for some time.

I can maintain the power by slower accelerations on 4th and 5th gear.

Somebody have had any experiences with that kind of problem ?

To my mind the ECU receives some strange information from some sensor and blocks the engine load by fuel

Sounds like your EGR valve sticking open to me. Similar used to happen to me with my Astravan.

Best to get the fault codes read first to see what they say.

This sounds like the problem I had on my Seat Toledo TDi, when the car went into "limp mode". It seemed to happen if I really floored it in 4th or 5th gear. I understand that this is meant to enable you to drive at low revs to a garage. In my case there was a problem with the mass airflow sensor (MAF) that the ECU sensed would cause engine problems if over-revved. As with you, I found that it went away as soon as you restarted the engine.
