Columbus Sat Nav speed warning!

Featured Replies

Visited a mate the weekend on the east coast, nearly all 'A' roads, my dilemma? most of the road signs were reading 50 speed limit but Sat Nav was showing 60? I suspect that perhaps these particular roads used to be 60 but have now been 'downgraded' to 50? do I need to update Columbus? if so, how do I do it?

Any advice appreciated.

I bet the update wouldn't matter. I had free map updates on my tom tom and there were loads of roads with the wrong speed limits were the limit had been reduced to say 50 from 60, and another area where one had gone from 40 to 30. The tom tom has a facility to report errors, which I have done but so far these have still not been updated.

No means to report errors on the VW skoda system anyway.

I've given up trying to keep the Satnav's in our cars up to date, it's a thankless task. I have just gone back to the old fashioned way of looking out of the windscreen.

The Zee, that made me laugh :-)

Updating involves getting a DVD of the updated maps and loading it onto the unit. V14 is the current version for Western Europe.

Officially, you need to buy the update DVD from Skoda. Unofficially there are other options if you can find a disk image.
