Dash light feed

Featured Replies

Which colour wire is the feed for the switch lighting behind the headlight switch

I need a live feed when the lights are on

I thinks it's grey and blue but not sure

Is there also a suitable earth in the loom there or should I pick one from elsewhere

I know this is the fabia 2 board btw assuming most wiring colours are the same through the vag range

Have you tried popping out the switch and using one of those automotive tester probes? The ones with a bulb on, a screw cap covering a sharp needle and a short wire with a crocodile clip on the end.

They clip on to an earthing point and you can use the cap against things like terminals or the needle to spike a wire to test it. This will help you detect a live wire as the bulb will illuminate.

TBH, I think you might know the tool as I think you are checking electrical and would be bonkers not to have one in your arsenal.

The headlight switches are fairly simple to pop out, too.

I fitted a w8 light in a roomster/fabia 5j and can't for the life of me remember which colour wire

I'll have a poke round with a tester

I did the same thing with a W8 interior light and can't remember myself, I did post pictures and abit of a guide when I did it.
