air con not cold

Recommended Posts

After three and a half years of fault-free motoring, the air con on my Superb suddenly stopped working last week. No build up - worked fine for a two-hour drive on a blisteringly hot day, but did not work at all on the way back. The car has just passed 50k miles. I assumed it needed a re-gas, and took it to a garage just down the road. They phoned me back a few hours later to say they thought that the compressor needed replacing, which I believe is quite a common fault. So I had that done along with a re-gas and picked up the car this afternoon. I might be wrong, but the air still does not feel very cold to me, although as it is not a hot day I cannot say for certain that the air con is not working.

Any suggestions? I will probably take it back to the garage down the road once I decide whether the air is acceptably cold or not.

You might find there is air gaps in the air con if the garage hasn't put it in perfectly. This is a very common thing in allot of car though I'm new to skoda. Air con should ideally be done by a specialist but your talking big bucks for that so tbh the job the garage has done you will probably find was worth what you paid for it.
